This post on commissions and the perception that agents are overpaid is one of the most read articles ever on Geek Estate Blog. I wrote it in 2014.
In the fight to reduce commissions, there was an recent addition to the discount model graveyard that grows by the year: GoldenKey, formerly SoloPro.
I wrote about the company in February of 2017 when they raised a round of funding, and Landis just recently acquired all their assets (they aren’t revamping the discount model).
Like many other entrants, they “set out to disrupt real estate agents and unbundle the real estate industry.” Turns out, that doesn’t work so well.
Another strike for the downward pressure on real estate commissions.
Who is the next startup that will try it?
