Geek Estate Founding Member Spotlight: David Marc Harris from Remzy

The interviews are meant to give you a taste of current business priorities, products and trends to watch in 2018, and what they enjoy about being a Geek Estate mastermind member.

Our 7th interview is with David Marc Harris at Remzy.

Without further ado…

What’s your most significant business focus for 2018?

We serve agents. Our tool aims alleviate the shortage of homes on the market and changes the perception of off-market homes. For us, it starts with aggregating the best data and presenting it in a new, useful way; a continuous challenge. In tight real estate markets, where sometimes more than 99% of the inventory is not for sale (hello, San Jose and Seattle), the MLS doesn’t provide enough options. Agents can find a lot of success for their buyers by reaching out to homeowners whose homes are not for sale, but that is an incredibly manual process. And how do they best determine who to target? Our goal for 2018 is to define our next product roadmap and development.

What real estate technology trend or product are your most excited about?

Predictive analytics. Specifically, identifying pre-movers and potential home sellers. If an existing homeowner applies for a new mortgage, is that the best indicator the homeowner is thinking about refinancing, or buying a new home? If someone checks the value of their current property, why has that become such a valuable metric? Remzy wants to be part of that conversation. We have to define more metrics.

What do you like about being a Geek Estate member?

The Conversation. The Contacts. The Connection. I love reading about the new business models, tools, and people that make up the real estate tech community. I met my new development team on Geek Estate through Drew; our data provider is a member; all the companies I would want to partner with are already here; everyone that has been funded has provided us with a lens into VCs looking at deals in our space.
